New Music Project ‘Cofi Miwsig’ Hits the Right Note Thanks to Anthem Cymru

Porthi Dre is thrilled to announce it has received a grant of £7,500 from Anthem Music Fund Wales through its Atsain fund, backed by Youth Music and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The funding will help launch Cofi Miwsig, an exciting new music project for 11–15-year-olds in Caernarfon.

The weekly music sessions will take place for free every Wednesday at the Porthi Dre community hub, offering young people opportunities to explore songwriting, recording, beat-making and performance in a fun, creative and supportive environment.

Cai Samuel, Porthi Dre’s Hub Coordinator and a music graduate, said:

“Music is such a powerful way for young people to build confidence, express themselves and discover new interests. I know personally how much it helped me growing up, and I’d love to see the next generation benefit. I know I would’ve got so much out of an opportunity like this at their age.”

The project will kick off this spring and is open to all young people aged 11–15 in the area, regardless of musical background or experience.

Funded by Anthem Music Fund Wales through its Atsain fund. This is backed by investment from Youth Music, thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
