Values
Health and wellbeing
In our community hub in Tŷ Seiont, Caernarfon activities are held every week that promote the health and well-being of the town. From the keep-fit activities for older people on Mondays, to the nutritious meals prepared by our chef, promoting well-being is central to our work.
Tackling poverty
Preventing or mitigating poverty in Caernarfon and the surrounding area by providing food and other essential items to individuals in need is at the heart of our mission. We also welcome external agencies such as Warm Wales to Porthi Dre to provide free information and support.
Tackling loneliness
Loneliness is a plight on our communities, especially amongst the elderly. Whether that is through our Clwb Hwyl (Fun Club), Clwb Seiont, the Pwytho Dre knitting club or our ‘Paned and a cake' afternoons, we provide valuable opportunities for people of all generations to come together to chat in a warm environment.
The next generation
Porthi Dre’s very own Youth Club is one of our most important projects. It provides a safe space for young people to socialise, express themselves creatively, build skills and have a hot meal.
The Environment
Through our schemes that make use of surplus food to our close relationship with the O Law i Law shop that sells second-hand children's clothes and toys, Porthi Dre makes it easier for the people of the town to reduce their carbon footprint.
Social cohesion
The volunteering opportunities that Porthi Dre offers give individuals from different generations a valuable opportunity to get to know and understand each other better. Fostering intergenerational relationships is a key part of Porthi Dre's vision.
